The History of Judd Sather Photography

From equations on a whiteboard to galaxies over desert horizons, Judd Sather’s creative path has been anything but ordinary. Beginning his career as a math teacher, Judd developed a fascination with patterns, perspective, and the quiet poetry hidden inside numbers. That same curiosity eventually pulled him toward photography, where he spent years capturing weddings and portraits with a cinematic, human-centered style. In 2013, he opened Loft 214 - Venue on Main, transforming a historic Stillwater space into a celebrated venue for gatherings, art, music, and storytelling. Three years later came JX Venue, expanding his vision of spaces that bring people together in meaningful ways.

Today, Judd’s lens is pointed skyward. His work in astrophotography blends science, wonder, and adventure into images that invite viewers to feel both tiny and deeply connected at the same time. Through stargazing and smartphone adventure workshops across remote landscapes, he teaches others how to slow down, look up, and rediscover awe in an age of distraction. Whether photographing the Milky Way arching over ancient deserts or helping first-time travelers capture the night sky with the phone already in their pocket, Judd’s work is rooted in one idea: that beauty expands when it is shared. A portion of proceeds from art sales supports cancer awareness and prevention, along with the equally noble pursuit of keeping the adventure vehicle’s gas tank courageously above empty.
